1) What is the problem?
What to do right now while you wait
- Check your boiler display for an error code and note it down — tell us when you call, it speeds up the diagnosis
- Check your boiler pressure gauge — if it reads below 1 bar try repressurising before calling (see your boiler manual)
- Check your thermostat and timer settings have not been accidentally changed
- If you smell gas at any point, do NOT touch the boiler, do NOT turn any switches on or off, do NOT use your phone inside the property — leave immediately, leave the door open as you go, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 (free, 24 hours — this is NOT British Gas, it is the official national emergency line run by Cadent Gas)
- Keep children and pets out of the room with the boiler until the engineer has confirmed it is safe
- Turn off your boiler at the isolator switch if it is making unusual noises or leaking water
- If water is leaking from the boiler near any electrical fittings, turn off your consumer unit immediately

What counts as a boiler emergency?⌄
A boiler emergency is any fault leaving your home without heating or hot water, a boiler leaking water, a gas smell near the boiler, or a fault creating a safety risk. If you can smell gas do not touch the boiler – leave the property and call 0800 111 999.

Our price depends on the time of day. During standard hours (8am–6pm) the first hour is £125. Evening calls (6pm–10pm) are £150 for the first hour. Late night callouts (10pm–8am) are £175 for the first hour. Weekend and bank holiday rates are £150 for the first hour. After the first hour the rate is £65 per hour at all times. Parts are quoted separately before any work starts. Fix & Assist Plan members pay nothing for covered faults.
Is there a call-out fee?⌄
No hidden call-out fee. The first-hour price covers the engineer's travel, arrival and first hour of labour. You see this price before anyone leaves to come to you.
